Transport Agency thanks motorists for their response to last
month's SH29 closures
Essential maintenance and safety works on State Highway 29 Ruahihi Bluffs are now complete and the New Zealand Transport Agency (NZTA) is thanking Bay of Plenty and Waikato motorists for their patience during the road closures in late June.
NZTA Bay of Plenty state highway manager, Brett Gliddon, says closing the road was necessary to make the highway safe again by removing overhanging trees and large rocks from the Ruahihi Bluffs slope. "We acknowledge that the closure was a temporary inconvenience and we’d like to thank motorists for their patience. The works are now complete and they went very well.”
People can check out current highway conditions online or by freephone before they travel. The NZTA’s website is updated regularly and it includes details on state highway road or lane closures, significant state highway road works and where relevant, detour and alternative route information. This information is available at www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic or by calling the NZTA freephone 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49).
