One lane closed on State Highway 2 Papamoa
One lane closed on State Highway 2 between Bruce Road and Domain Road, Papamoa
Motorists are advised to take extreme care and reduce their speed when travelling on State Highway 2 between Bruce Road and the Domain Road intersection at Papamoa.
NZTA’s Bay of Plenty State Highway Manager, Brett Gliddon, says the highway is down to one lane and severe surface flooding is affecting the area.
“Contractors worked through the night to try and repair potholes that had formed because of the flooding, but the northbound lane is still closed and a short detour is in place. The highway is likely to remain only one lane for most of today (Tuesday 24 July). Until the flooding subsides, further repairs cannot be undertaken. Once the water recedes we will work as quickly as possible to restore the highway to two lanes. We ask motorists to reduce their speed and take extreme care when travelling in this area,” he said.
Mr Gliddon say's before starting their journey people should check with the NZTA's freephone 0800 4 HIGHWAYS or 0800 44 44 49, or its website www.highwayinfo.govt.nz for up-to-the-minute info on road conditions.
