Wednesday July 25th, 2012
For immediate release.

AJ Hackett Bungy Queenstown is among recent recipients of an Enviro Silver Award from Qualmark, under the newly formed ‘Responsible Tourism Operations’ criteria.

The Enviro Silver award is given in recognition of five key areas that include energy efficiency, waste management, water conservation, conversation and community.

AJ Hackett Bungy New Zealand CEO, David Mitchell says achieving the new Enviro Silver status reinforces the company’s commitment to environmental practices throughout the organisation.

“We have worked steadily to develop a strong environmental ethos with our team and achieve our vision of delivering awesome experiences and creating new products that are innovative with thought to our natural environment.”

The Qualmark Green environmental assessment criteria were launched last year as an extension of Qualmark’s existing quality accreditation system. All Qualmark assessments now include ‘Responsible Tourism Operations’ criteria.

David Mitchell says the Enviro Silver award shows AJ Hackett Bungy Queenstown is operating at a high level of environmental sustainability.

“All levels of our company have applied themselves to meeting the minimum requirements set down by Qualmark of monitoring, tracking and managing areas like waste and electricity across our sites in Queenstown.”

Recently several new recycling initiatives have been put in place at the award winning Kawarau Bungy Centre along with careful conservation of natural features in it’s vicinity.

“The Kawarau Bungy Centre is currently undergoing some very exciting and significant developments both inside and out, and the contractors working on site have agreed to comply with our sustainable practices document.

Our visitors and guests are also encouraged to recycle and dispose of waste responsibly. This ensures they act in an ethical and socially responsible manner to support the natural environment and together we are all working to minimize any environmental impact as much as possible.”

AJ Hackett Bungy Queenstown is proud to have achieved the Enviro Silver award, as it continues to deliver on visitor expectations of a 100% Pure New Zealand experience.
