Record Number Of Participants In 2012 Pokerstars.Net
NZPT Queenstown – SKYCITY Snowfest
One hundred and forty nine poker players representing seventeen different countries have hit the felts over the past three days at the fourth annual Pokerstars.net NZPT Queenstown – SKYCITY Snowfest.
This is a record number of participants for the event proving the increasing popularity of Queenstown as a stop on the international poker circuit.
With a record field comes the highest prize pool to date for Queenstown poker. A total of $402,300 will be shared between the top fifteen players, with the 2012 Pokerstars.net NZPT Queenstown – SKYCITY Snowfest Champion taking home $110,600.
With Days 1A and 1B completed, 58 people to date have qualified for Day 2 on Friday 27 July, including Australian Poker Hall of Fame member Billy ‘the Croc’ Argyros, reigning ANZ Player of the Year, Danny Chevalier, who was notably the first NZPT Queenstown Champion in 2009, a WSOPE bracelet winner Andrew Hinrichsen and Queenstown locals Fergus Spary and Erich Stadler.
Day 1C is still in progress with the heat on as players battle it out to make it to Day 2 tomorrow. Notable names playing today include Team PokerStars.net PRO Bryan Huang from Singapore, Team PokerStars.net Online Rohit Bhasin better known at the virtual felt as GodlikeRoy from Australia, Australian Poker Hall of Fame member Leo Boxell, reigning Asian Player of the Year champion Hung-Sheng (Shaq) Lin from Taiwan, and Queenstown business man and last year’s runner up Matty Yates.
The 2012 Pokerstars.net NZPT Queenstown – SKYCITY Snowfest continues until Sunday 29 July at SKYCITY Queenstown Casino. Spectators are welcome.
