SH20A closures affect travel to Auckland airport
The NZ Transport Agency advises motorists there will be closures on SH20A (George Bolt Memorial Drive) – in two locations between State Highway 20 and Montgomerie Rd, starting this evening, Tuesday, 4 September, for re-surfacing work.
People driving to Auckland International Airport should allow more time because detours will add 5-10 minutes to journey times.
The re-surfacing will be carried out between 9pm and 5am when traffic volumes are lighter to minimise disruption to road users. The following closures will be in place during this time:
4 & 5 Sep – SH20A closed
between SH20 and Kirkbride Rd – Airport bound
6 & 9
Sep – SH20A closed between Kirkbride Rd and
Montgomerie Rd – Airport bound
Please note that this work is weather dependant. If work cannot be carried out on the dates above, it will be carried out on the next available evening.
This work is an important part of the maintenance programme undertaken by the NZTA’s Auckland Motorway Alliance to ensure state highways are kept in a good and safe condition for all road users.
The NZ Transport Agency works to create transport solutions for all New Zealanders – from helping new drivers earn their licences, to leading safety campaigns to investing in public transport, state highways and local roads. Follow us on twitter @nzta_news.
