United Nations International Day of Peace in Nelson
United Nations International Day of Peace in
Nelson
Bells will ring in Nelson during the
day on Friday September 21 for United Nations International
Day of Peace.
Each year on this day a bell made from coins by children around the world is rung for peace at the United Nations in New York.
In Nelson the Cathedral bells will be rung in the morning and again in the afternoon.
Nelson peace worker Margaret Belton said schools and other organsiations or individuals may join in by ringing bells.
"We'd like people to think and talk about world peace, which is needed more than ever at present," she said.
