Jetman to fly in Auckland

Jetman to fly in Auckland

The New Zealand International Air Show today announced that Yves Rossy, the famous "Jetman", will be headlining its inaugural event over Auckland Anniversary Weekend in January 2013. This will be the first ever visit of Jetman to Australia or New Zealand.

Jetman is the world’s top aviation act and the only human being to be able to fly like a jet. The New Zealand International Air Show will use massive outdoor screens and on-board cameras to bring Jetman’s flights live to spectators at Ardmore Airport.

Internationally Jetman’s flights over the Grand Canyon, The English Channel and Rio de Janeiro have all attracted massive global media attention and captured the imagination of everyone who has ever dreamt of being able to fly.

Yves Rossy, speaking from his base in the Swiss Alps, says “I can’t wait to fly in New Zealand. It will be the first time my flights have been covered live by cameras onto big screens so that spectators will really be able to experience what it’s like to fly at 200 kilometres an hour. I’m thrilled to be part of taking air shows to the next generation.”

Yves has become a global celebrity due to his pioneering development of personal flight and recently appeared on the CBS Late Show with David Letterman as well as on the BBC’s Top Gear show.

Tickets for the NZ International Air Show go on sale today for the event which is to be held over January 26, 27 and 28 (Auckland Anniversary Weekend 2013). The Air Show will also feature a full schedule of top international pilots and head to head air racing as well as jet formation flights. Details of these acts will be announced over the coming weeks.
