Ultra-Fast Broadband More Affordable for Tauranga Homes
EOL’s New Offer Makes Ultra-Fast Broadband More Affordable for Tauranga Homes
EOL, the Bay’s local
award-winning internet service provider (ISP), is making
ultra-fast broadband easier and more affordable for Tauranga
residents as the roll-out of the service gains momentum in
the area.
EOL’s one-time offer gives new customers who sign up to a 24-month home plan free installation and router as well as a free home phone line and ultra-fast broadband service for the rest of the year.
The ultra-fast broadband initiative, which commenced in April this year, is a $1.5 billion government funded operation with the objective to connect 75 per cent of New Zealanders to the faster internet service over the next ten years. The cost of the free offer is being jointly funded by the Ultra-Fast network operators and EOL.
Although the first six years of the roll-out are concentrated on priority broadband users such as businesses, schools and health services, the Bay of Plenty is leading the charge for home sign-ups.
EOL CEO, Terry Coles, says that the offer, specifically for home services, was developed in response to the changing needs and wants of internet users.
“The way we receive our news and entertainment is shifting, with so many people watching their favourite television shows and reading news online. As a technology with unrivalled benefits, ultra-fast broadband will play a huge role in this revolution,” says Coles.
Coles explains that there is a misconception in the general public that ultra-fast broadband is too expensive.
“This mind-set is changing as people realise that not only is this service very affordable, the cost of the ultra-fast service plus digital phone line is less than what some people are still paying for their slow old copper phone line. It is also more reliable and can give them higher upload speeds and faster download speeds, making their busy lives that much easier.”
EOL’s ultra-fast broadband service is currently available in Tauranga, Otumoetai, Gate Pa and Mount Maunganui, with the company planning to have Bethlehem, Bellevue and parts of Papamoa connected by early 2013.
