10,000th Red Zone tour passenger

10,000th Red Zone tour passenger

The 10,000th passenger travelled on the Red Zone tour on 25 October 2012.

Catherine Robinson was visiting Christchurch with her partner from Kingston, Lake Wakatipu and decided to take a Red Zone tour. It was her lucky day as she was presented with wine and chocolates to mark the occasion by Nicky Halligan, Marketing Co-ordinator, Red Bus.

Catherine said it was a sombre and shocking experience for her, and it bought home just how much the people of Christchurch have gone through. Catherine and her partner John Jones recommend the tour to anyone who knew the former Christchurch. They were particularly pleased to see the gap fillers and the greening, and hope this will continue in the rebuilt city.

Paul McNoe said just three months after commencing the service we are delighted to have carried the 10,000th passenger, and with the continuing strong interest in the tour. We continue to receive excellent feedback about the service and in particular the professional service and commentary provided by staff from Canterbury Museum. Typical comments from passengers include ‘staff were helpful and pleasant, and the commentary both sensitive and informative’, ‘first class factual information with empathy and authenticity of her personal experiences’, and ‘exceeded expectations, informative and great value’.

The Red Zone tours continue to operate 7 days a week.

The tours are 40 minutes long with a guided commentary and in bus images from Canterbury Museum, and cost $15 per person. Under 15-years must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian (a maximum of five under 15-year olds per parent or guardian).

The tours depart from Rolleston Avenue, outside Canterbury Museum. Bookings are essential online at www.redbus.co.nz or may be made in person at i-Site Visitor Centre next door to the Museum in Rolleston Avenue.
