How to get a sperm whale into a Christmas stocking

How do you get a blue sperm whale into a Christmas stocking? They make it look easy at The New Zealand National Whale Centre (NWC - http://aworldwithwhales.com).

NWC has just launched a four gigabyte flash drive in the shape of a blue sperm whale to raise funds to build the country’s first National Whale Centre in Picton.

“The flash drive makes a novel and useful gift and it’s also an easy way to help our precious ecosystem,” explains National Whale Centre Development trustee Luit Bieringa.

The cute, compact device is $15.00 with 50 percent of the retail price going towards the National Whale Centre cause. You can order online at the NWC website.

NWC aims to increase awareness of New Zealand’s whaling history in the Marlborough Sounds as well as current whale and dolphin (cetaceans) conservation efforts through information, research and exhibition programmes.

The NWC will be based in Picton given the town’s whaling history which was active up until 1964. Additionally, 53 of the world’s 87 whale species are found in New Zealand waters. Some of the world’s rarest dolphins, the Maui and Hectors dolphins are found in New Zealand waters.
