People are being encouraged to share their photos of the changing face of Christchurch as part of an ongoing campaign to entice more Australian visitors here.
Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism has set up a special photo kiosk in Re:Start mall where people can upload images of the city directly onto a new digital platform called Discovery Stream.
Created as part of Christchurch &
Canterbury Tourism's Christchurch Reimagined campaign, the
Discovery Stream allows people who log onto < “We really want locals to help contribute to the
Stream and encourage everyone to come in and upload the pics
from their mobile phones and cameras to help us reimage
Christchurch and show Australians all the exciting things
we’re doing here,” says Christchurch & Canterbury
Tourism marketing manager Rowan Townsend. Those who cannot
make it into the kiosk can still share their photos on
Twitter or Instagram with the tag #christchurch or #chch or
upload them directly onto christchurchreimagined.co.nz via
Facebook. ‘‘The Stream pulls images from Twitter,
Instagram and Facebook to uncover what people are doing in
and around Christchurch at any hour of the day, whether
it’s sitting in one of the many new cafes and bars,
attending an event in the city, or shopping,” Ms Townsend
says.
The Discovery Stream is a critical element of the
Christchurch Reimagined campaign, which kicked off in
Australia last month with a series of fun videos featuring
Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker. In the videos the Mayor
appealed to Australians to come back to Christchurch – and
to send over some of their Big Things. ‘‘The goal now
is to address Australians’ misconceptions of Christchurch
by replacing the post-quake images of the city they have
held on to with fresh ones that show the city is once more a
vibrant and exciting place to be,” Ms Townsend said.
‘‘That’s where Discovery Stream comes in and where
locals can really do their bit to help.” The Discovery
Stream kiosk in Re:Start Mall opens on Saturday 3 November,
for four weeks. It will be open from 10am to 5.30pm weekdays
and from 10am to 5pm on the weekends. It is located next to
Workshop, at the Oxford Terrace end of Re:Start. - ends-
