American Express Queenstown Winter Festival offers fundraising opportunities for local charities

Queenstown, 28 March 2013 – The American Express Queenstown Winter Festival is reaching out to local charities, offering fundraising opportunities across various events at the ten day Festival in June.

The Remarkables Parent Association, Coastguard Queenstown and the St Joseph’s PTA were the selected charities in 2012, with the schools selling items like bacon butties and glow sticks at various public events. Coastguard Queenstown were selected as the official charity for Mountain Scene’s Thriller in the Chiller.

Charity opportunities follow a similar format for Festival in 2013. Two charities will be focusing on public events throughout the programme, like the American Express Opening Party.

An additional group will become the official charity of the Mountain Scene Thriller in the Chiller and will be required to source charity auction items and run a raffle during the evening.

American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Manager Lisa Buckingham says it’s fantastic that Festival can help support charities and local community groups.

At the end of the day, we’re a community event and this is one of the many ways we can give back,” says Lisa.

More information and an application form are available on www.winterfestival.co.nz.

Applications close on Wednesday 10th April and the selection panel consists of representatives of the Destination Queenstown Board and Festival Management.
