Baby airlifted to hospital
On Friday the Tauranga based TrustPower TECT rescue helicopter was called to Edgecumbe where a 1 year old toddler from Tauranga had fallen into a fire.
The young boy, who has just started walking, was visiting family in Edgecumbe whenthe accident occurred. A family member was burning rubbish when the toddler stumbled into the fire, receiving burns to his hands and feet as well as other areas of his body.
The young boy was stabilised by St John ambulance paramedics before being flown direct to Auckland’s Middlemore hospital accompanied by his mother. His condition described as serious.
