Fire ban lifted in Whangarei District
The total fire ban over the Whangarei District has been lifted and an Open Fire Season to be in force from midnight Monday 15 April 2013, until further notice.
The Open status applies to all Whangarei District Council area except Limestone and Rabbit Islands where a permanent Prohibited Season is in place.
This Open season does not apply to areas administered by the Department of Conservation.
Anyone lighting a fire in the open is reminded that they may still be held liable for the consequences arising from the fire and care must be taken to avoid fire spread.
