Prime Minister to Launch The MoreAble Network
The MoreAble Network, a collaborative of five social enterprises who offer a range of quality business and community services, will be officially launched by the Prime Minister in Christchurch this afternoon.
Each of the five MoreAble Network enterprises runs a commercial business that supports its local community and provides employment for people with disabilities.
The network comprises of the Coromandel Independent Living Trust (CILT), Auckland’s Attainable Trust and Altus Enterprises, Kilmarnock Enterprises from Christchurch and Cargill Enterprises from Dunedin. Each social enterprise has a long history and excellent track record in providing a range of quality business-to-business services. All are members of the New Zealand Federation of Vocational and Support Services (VASS), which provides support and advice to the network.
“Our mission is to be more able to provide competitive pricing , more able to provide on time and on budget delivery, more able to provide a nationwide network to meet our customers’ requirements and more able to provide great people with great jobs,” says Neil Porteous, CE Altus Enterprises.
All members of the network are committed to sustainable and healthy communities. They are each involved in local community environmental initiatives and are keen to develop this area of their work.
“One of our focus areas will be to work together on community environmental initiatives. The network has already identified several opportunities for new ventures in the recycling and resource recovery areas,” says CILT Executive Trustee, Mike Noonan
Kilmarnock Enterprises in Christchurch, where today’s launch is taking place, have experienced the type of support the network can provide.
“Support from members of the network has
assisted Kilmarnock in its recovery after the earthquakes,
and symbolises what can be achieved when organisations
collaborate and work together,” says Kilmarnock
Enterprises CEO, Michelle Sharp.
