Cordon reduced in three more areas
Three sections of the central city are set to reopen as the progressive rollback of the Rebuild Zone cordon continues.
The area surrounding New Regent Street will be open from 9am tomorrow, giving public walking access from both the Armagh St and Gloucester St ends.
A section of Cambridge Terrace, west of Manchester Street, will open this evening.
This reduction does not extend all the way through Cambridge Terrace but will provide the public with access to the PGC site, where 18 people lost their lives in the February 2011 earthquake.
The third area of the CBD that will be opened tonight is along the city-side of the Avon River between Hereford and Armagh Streets. This area will only be accessible for pedestrians, but will create a walkway from Re:Start Mall all the way through to Victoria Square and the Pallet Pavillion.
The cordoned area of the CBD will continue to be reduced as and when possible until the end of June, by which time only site-specific fencing will remain around various areas and worksites.
