Devonport-Takapuna Local Board Chairperson Chris Darby hopes residents will take the opportunity to find out more about the plan and take charge in shaping their neighbourhoods.

“This is an opportunity for locals to get around the table and share how they want their areas to be in the future. Do we sprawl further, build medium density housing around town centres or explore other solutions?

“We’re working closely with our community groups to clarify aspects of the draft plan with locals,” he says.

“So far, we have held three well-attended public meetings and six community walks with several hundred people turning out.

“Interest and debate on the plan has seen significant levels of feedback from across communities. The feedback is the vital ingredient needed to inform the final document which I’m picking will show changes,” Mr Darby says.

“Feedback closes on 31 May, so we want to make sure our residents have accurate information to make their submission.”
