The Jazz Apple Big Crunch Confirms New World Record

The new world record for the most people eating an apple simultaneously is now 17,064, smashing the previous record of 9,329 set in 2011 by pupils from the Whitehall Schools District in Michigan, Ohio.

The Jazz Apple Big Crunch was held last Friday 10 May 2013 and involved 69 schools from Kaitaia to Invercargill.

“We had a fantastic time, the kids had fun, we broke the world record and established a pretty healthy target for anyone else who wants to have a go at it, so we’re really pleased with the outcome,” said ENZA Marketing Manager Rosstan Mazey.

“It was a huge challenge and I want to give a heartfelt thanks to everyone who took part in The Big Crunch – everyone came together on the day and played their part brilliantly

“When it comes to making sure that all children have adequate school lunches, we don’t think it is the responsibility of any single person or group: The best results will be achieved if we can all do a little bit to help,” said Mr Mazey.

“I don’t think any of us really knew how big a challenge it was going to be when we set out, but.

“Our goal was to create an event that provided a fun and cheeky way to promote the availability of new season Jazz Apples. We also wanted to play our part in helping to reinforce a healthy eating message to parents and children.
