The Waimakariri Zone Committee will meet in Rangiora on Monday (10 June) for its monthly meeting to address water management issues in the zone.

The committee is currently working with Waimakariri Irrigation Limited to trial using FEPs at six farms in the zone.
The Group has also overseen the formation of an industry sub-committee to help local farmers understand and adopt good nutrient management and irrigation practices, and foster participation the development of a Waimakariri Subregional Plan.
At Monday’s meeting the committee will also receive a report from the Lowland Streams Working Group, which has been focussing on planting and fencing initiatives, and considering the next priority catchment to focus on.
The committee will finish the meeting with an update from the Waimakariri District Council on the process for scoping the preparation of comprehensive stormwater discharge consents for the district’s urban drainage networks.
