Pumping station sewage overflow in Petone
A small leak at the Regent Street pumping station in Petone has resulted in a sewage overflow near Petone Wharf this morning.
The overflow location was at Victoria Street into Petone Harbour, near Petone Wharf.
Urgent works are underway to repair the leak and in the meantime it is being contained with an on-site storage truck and suction pump.
Environmental sampling has been taken.
Health warning signs have been put up and the public are requested to not swim, fish or collect shellfish in the area.
