Bridge Reopens at Popular Taupo Bathing Spot
Access to Otumuheke Stream inTaupo’s Spa Thermal Park has been reopened and a new bridge put in place to ensure visitor safety to the popular hot water bathing area.
Engineers at DBCON were called in to design the bridge after it was noticed the rock foundations on the river bed that had supported the previous crossing had begun to erode. The beams and base were trucked down to the location and then the 14 metre long structure was lifted into place by helicopter.
The bridge forms part of the Rotary Ride which includes Aratiatia and the Huka Falls Trail and is considered an easy ride, suitable for beginners.
