Man rescued after boat capsizes
A Life Flight team rescued a man after his small boat capsized around 8pm in Lyall Bay
The team, aboard the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, was called by police after the man was reported to be on rocks that separate Lyall Bay and Houghton Bay on Wellington's south coast.
A rescue swimmer was lowered to the man and the pair were winched back to the helicopter. The helicopter then landed in a parking area and dropped the man to waiting police units.
The man was cold and wet but otherwise uninjured. We have no information on his age or where he is from
"We couldn't have a rescue much closer to our base" says Dave Greenberg, Life Flight Crewman. "We were on the scene within 10 minutes of receiving the call and had the man on dry ground shortly after that".
