Tekapo Community Hall Now Available for Public
The upgraded Tekapo Community Hall has proven popular since it re-opened to the public a few weeks ago, but there is still room to book your meeting or event.
The hall recently had a $500,000 upgrade with new heating, a new kitchen and improvements including opening up the north end of the hall for better access with new decking. The tennis courts have also been upgraded.
Mackenzie District Council community facilities manager Garth Nixon encourages locals to book and use the new facility. The hall includes a small meeting room for small groups, and larger rooms that are currently being used to host exercise classes, weddings, and large functions.
The Tekapo Community Hall can now host up to 200 people in comfort, and will help bring more visitors to Tekapo for major events such as the International Starlight Conference in October, with 200 astronomers attending.
Prices and a booking system can be found on the council’s website at www.mackenzie.govt.nz. Click on Hall Bookings.
