Pukeiti’s creepy crawlies will take centre stage on Sunday (4 August) as the stars of a family-focused Explorer Day at the heritage property.
There’ll be opportunities for the young and young at heart to learn about the insects of Pukeiti, with activities including making bug masks, insect-related games and a short bush walk looking for creepy crawlies.
Garden visitors will also be able to check out Pukeiti’s new native fish aquarium, and enter a name-the-eel competition.
Explorer Days, aimed at youngsters and their carers, are held on the first Sunday of every second month at Pukeiti, each with a different theme.
They are part of a year-round programme of free public events at Pukeiti, Tupare and Hollard Gardens, the three heritage properties owned and managed by the Taranaki Regional Council on behalf of the people of the region.
