The Block NZ Is Back, and Bigger than Ever
Block-o-holics rejoice! The Block NZ premieres on Monday August 26 and is bigger than ever, with three one-hour episodes each week, screening Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm on TV3.
Hosted by sports-star-turned-broadcaster Mark Richardson, and FOUR Live’s Shannon Ryan, the second season of TV3’s top-rating renovation-reality show will see four new teams renovate four dilapidated houses with the goal of selling them at auction for the highest price:
• ALISA & KOAN: Auckland couple Alisa
Keall-Grant (23), who is a public relations consultant, and
animal wrangler Koan Vette (25).
• PETE &
ANDY: Rangitikei-born brothers, Pete (26) and Andy
Walker (23), who currently work on a family farm at the
bottom of the South Island in the Catlins.
•
ALICE & CALEB: Married couple, youth worker Alice
Pearson (26) and project manager husband Caleb Pearson (26)
from Auckland.
• LOZ & TOM: And
Nelson couple, Loz (29) and Tom Heaphy (31), who both work
in marketing.
Taking leave from their jobs and lives, the teams live in the houses while they do them up, room-by-room, week-by-week; this means no kitchen, no bathroom, not even a clean place to sleep, until the room in question has been renovated.
The commitment required is immense and the stakes are high! Each team will keep the profit from the sale of their property on auction night (the amount it sells for over reserve). And after the last auctioneer’s gavel goes down the team whose property sells for the most over reserve are named the winners of The Block NZ, and win an additional $80,000.
The first local version of The Block NZ turned New Zealand into a nation of block-o-holics, and was a ratings success, with 1,099,400 New Zealanders tuning in to siblings Libby and Ben Crawford win The Block NZ crown – and an amazing $237,000 - after an auction broadcast LIVE on TV3. (5+ cume reach.)
The Block is one of the biggest reality formats in the world, with a compelling blend of real estate dreams and high-stakes drama that has made it a global phenomenon. The New Zealand series is produced by Eyeworks Television for TV3. Foundation partners are Bunnings Warehouse, Kiwibank, Mazda and Wild Bean Cafe.
