Wellington earthquake update 1 New Zealand Fire
Service
The New Zealand Fire Service has so far
received no calls involving serious damage to buildings or
property following the earthquake a short time ago.
Fire
appliances are responding to a many of the automatic alarms
that have been triggered in the central city area and to a
few calls reporting people trapped in lifts.
There have
been reports of power lines down in the Seddon area.
A
further update will be issued in about half an hour.
