CHB Promotions announce proposal to work smarter to build visitor numbers
A streamlined plan to increase visitor numbers to Central Hawke’s Bay is part of a strategic shift in focus for CHB Promotions.
A proposal has been agreed on by the board of CHB Promotions to restructure the delivery of tourism development for Central Hawke’s Bay
CHB Promotions chair Catherine Hobbs Turner said the key focus for the future was to focus on increasing visitors, increasing the length of stay, return visits and supporting existing tourism providers while working smarter to make CHB more visible throughout the community.
“It is important for Central Hawke’s Bay to make changes to better promote our community and all we have to offer.”
Currently the Visitor Centre is experiencing a decrease in numbers while costs continue to rise.
Total visits average 600 per month, with over half of these being local.
“We are in the consultation phase and will be working through the process to achieve the best outcome for Central Hawke’s Bay.”
The proposal includes more coordination with umbrella organisations including Hawke’s Bay Tourism, Business Hawke’s Bay and Hawke’s Bay Chamber of Commerce and with the priority being the opportunities around the Ruataniwha Dam construction.
