Mayoral Candidates Debate in the Heart of Wellington
Hashigo Zake is delighted to announce that all six of Wellington’s Mayoral Candidates will be present at our debate at 5:30pm on Wednesday September 18.
“After the recent turmoil over Wellington’s Local Alcohol Policy, we think it’s fitting that the tables are turned and a central city hospitality venue becomes a forum for debate about the Wellington City Council,” said Hashigo Zake Proprietor, Dominic Kelly. “And we anticipate a very different kind of event since it’s being held in an intimate, underground space."
The debate will be moderated by journalists Hadyn Green (Consumer Magazine, publicaddress.net) and Megan Whelan (Radio New Zealand). They have been compiling questions from bar patrons and will also invite those watching the debate to contribute questions on the fly using the twitter hashtag #hzdebate. Organisers expect a focus on issues relating to Wellington's economy and life and culture in the central city.
Background: Hashigo Zake, Cult Beer Bar, is in the basement of 25 Taranaki St Wellington.
According to contributors at ratebeer.com it is the highest rated bar in the southern hemisphere.
