Time running out to have your
say at elections
Time is running out for tens of thousands of Northlanders to have their say as to who should represent them around the Northland Regional Council table from later this month.
Vibeke Wright, Electoral Official for the Northland Regional Council, says about 106,000 postal voting packs for the Saturday 12 October elections were distributed to registered electors last month.
These must be returned in the freepost envelope provided so the Electoral Officer receives them by noon on election day. (SUBS: Sat 12 Oct)
Ms Wright says with just over a week remaining to cast a vote, anyone who has not already received their voting pack should contact their local district council office as soon as possible and request a special vote or call Election Services direct on 0800 922 822.
She says 32 people have been nominated to contest the nine seats available on a new-look Northland Regional Council at this year’s local body elections.
General information on the elections – including regular updates on the number of votes cast to date – is available from the council’s website via www.nrc.govt.nz/elections
