Festival’s $3.3m sponsorship fantastic news
The big increase in sponsorship for next year's New Zealand Festival is a perfect illustration of Wellington’s continuing claim as the events capital of New Zealand, says Employers’ Chamber of Commerce CEO Raewyn Bleakley.
“Again, business has stepped up to the plate and supported and invested in our city with this sponsorship.
“New sponsors Contact Energy and Westpac have joined Weta Digital, Wellington International Airport, and TV3, who have increased their support, and they are all to be congratulated for their foresight.
“Well done also to the festival’s organisers for being able to attract and retain such high-level corporate support. Having a new system, where each major sponsor becomes a partner for a different sector of the festival, has clearly paid off.
“Total sponsorship of $3.3 million for next year is fantastic news and will help ensure the festival’s future in the capital.
“It has been estimated that in 2012 the festival contributed some $56 million to the local economy, so we must continue to do everything we can to keep it in Wellington.”
