Beware of cyclists – Bike the Lake cycle race this Sunday
The NZ Transport Agency is advising drivers to take care when driving along State Highways 5, 36, 33 and State Highway 30 and 30a this Sunday as there will be hundreds of cyclists riding along these highways as part of the Bike the Lake race.
The race starts from 7.00am on Sunday 10 November around Lake Rotorua aside from driving carefully and keeping an eye out for cyclists, drivers need to be aware to expect delays.
The race is expected to finish by 2.00pm, the Transport Agency apologises to drivers for any inconvenience and we thank you in advance for your assistance in keeping cyclists and yourselves safe.
The NZ Transport Agency’s website is regularly updated with information about most closures and detours at www.nzta.govt.nz/traffic. This information is also available by phoning the Transport Agency’s free phone on 0800 4HIGHWAYS (0800 44 44 49), which can also be used to report any significant road issues or hazards.
Coincidently, drivers can now subscribe to On The Move which is a free service providing information about road closures, road works and driving conditions on their frequently used routes - to sign up, go to www.onthemove.govt.nz.
