North Shore Food Drive for Salvation Army
Browns Bay chiropractor, Dr Aimee Davis is giving back to her practice community to celebrate American Thanksgiving, and is encouraging her clients, both existing and new, to do the same.
While Thanksgiving is not widely celebrated in New Zealand, it is often acknowledged as a day to give back or to give thanks, and Dr Davis hopes to encourage her clients and wider community to embrace the spirit of the day. “Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate with family and friends, giving thanks for all we have and to express gratitude to the ones we love. It gives us a chance to reflect on how much we have and to recognise how good our lives are” says Dr Davis.
With this in mind, Dr Davis is opening her Browns Bay clinic doors on Saturday 23 November between 9am-12pm with a Patient Appreciation Day to coincide with American Thanksgiving which takes place in late November, inviting both current and new patients to book an appointment on Saturday morning at no cost.
However in exchange for the appointment, American-born Dr Davis is asking patients to also give back to the community through a donation of food items which will be passed on to the Albany Salvation Army.
Existing patients are asked to donate a minimum of five cans in exchange for an entrainment (appointment). The offer is also extended to new patients who will receive a new patient exam, also in exchange for a donation of five canned goods. These much-needed donations will assist the Salvation Army in providing basic necessities to those in the community who need it the most, especially in the lead up to Christmas.
As well as free appointments, Dr Davis will be providing nibbles and drinks to all guests and she is looking forward to sharing the occasion with her clients - “Our annual patient appreciation day is one of the most fun days we have in practice, as we get to say ‘Thank you’ to our practice community.”
Dr Davis runs her practice from her home in Browns Bay, using a gentle chiropractic technique known as Network Spinal Analysis (NSA). The primary objective of NSA is to effectively and measurably enhance the body-brain connection, via the spine, therefore immediately increasing healing capacity. The application of care, called an entrainment consists of specific, gentle touches in a reproducible sequence in places where the spinal cord attaches to the spine. These contacts encourage the development of spontaneous breath, movement and stretching that enhance the body/spine and brain connection, facilitating the release of tension.
The Patient Appreciation Day is the ideal opportunity for those curious about NSA or those who would prefer to try a more gentle chiropractic approach to experience the benefits that can come from this technique, while also gaining a little feel-good factor through giving back to the community.
