Roomie designer launches city tours to showcase Auckland talent

Auckland designer Tina Stephen is giving locals and overseas visitors a whole new way to experience the City of Sails this summer.
The qualified interior designer and entrepreneur has launched tours of the city that focus exclusively on creative design and the best of what is available throughout Auckland city.
The full-day tours provide a behind-the-scenes look into the furniture, homeware, vintage and outlet stores that inspire Tina every day in her role as creative director of Roomie, an online interior design company launched in June. Design Days was created for Roomie clients, and is now available to the wider public.
“I love this city – it has such a vibrant creative design scene. And not just in the city centre either. You’ll find amazing domestic ware made by some of this country’s most talented artists and homeware designers in Grey Lynn and Mt Eden. Meanwhile, Auckland’s North Shore is home to some of my favourite vintage stores,” she says.
“Creative design is my passion. I’ve spent years building up my knowledge of who is where and doing what in Auckland. I know what’s happening on the high street, but I’m also aware of what’s happening down the back alleys too. These tours are about sharing some of that inside knowledge. I want people – be they locals, or visitors from overseas – to see Auckland’s amazing creative design talent and to be wowed and inspired by it like I am,” she says.
“People are welcome to take a shopping list and buy things as they go. Or they can sit back, relax and simply enjoy what they see, the people they meet and what’s going on around them.”
Right now, Tina is offering pre-Xmas tours for up to 4 people for $250.00 per person. The tour includes pick up, stop off at several of Auckland’s design hubs, and a sumptuous lunch at SPQR on Ponsonby Road. Tina will be on hand for interior design and purchasing advice, as well as information about the designers and retailers featured throughout the tour.
