Thieves break into Hamilton Plunket
A Hamilton Plunket premises was broken into yesterday with the robbers making away with official collector identification cards and badges.
Waikato Plunket Area Manager Sue Hardley said she has serious concerns about the official identification ending up in the wrong hands.
“Our greatest concern is that these individuals will attempt to defraud the public by pretending to collect on behalf of Plunket.
“Plunket’s official collection period is during our Annual Appeal in March so we are not currently carrying out any street, door-to-door or phone collections in Waikato.
“As well as carrying one of the official identification tags, anyone collecting for Plunket will also have an official collection bag or bucket, and may also carry a letter on official letterhead stating they are an approved collector and the reason they are collecting”, she says.
Anyone posing as a Plunket collector should be immediately reported to Hamilton police.
