Wellington Magic Club Sends Off 2013 In Magical Style

Wellington. 15 November 2013- With its End of Year Magic Show, The Wellington Magic Club plans to delight and entertain audiences through the art of magic. Two performances of the End of Year Magic Show occur on Saturday 7 December 2013, at 4.30 and 7 pm at the Newtown Cultural Community Centre.

“The lineup for this show is great,” says Nopera Whitley, President of the Wellington Magic Club. “It really covers many aspects of magic. We’ve performers in sleight of hand, escapology, mentalism, and even full blown illusion.” Produced by The Wellington Magic Club, End of Year Magic Show strives to bring the audience the joy of magic felt by Club members. More than just a few card tricks thrown together, the 90minute show promises levitation, mindreading, teleportation, and more. Hosted by veteran performer Anton Van Helden, comedy also factors highly.

“It’s not good enough just to try to trick people. Magic isn’t a puzzle to be solved,” says Whitley. “It’s a performing art, like music or dance, so we have to engage as well as entertain people. Even magicians who’ve seen it all still enjoy the wonder and amazement of a great magic performance.

That’s what we want to bring to others.” Based in Wellington New Zealand, the Wellington Magic Club was founded in 2012. It encourages the pursuit of magic as a performing art, fostering the appreciation of the skills, art, and history of magic. The Club offers an environment for the learning and teaching of the skills and art of magic and provides a platform for public performance, for those who so choose.

The Wellington Magic Club will hold two performances of the End of Year Magic Show on 7 December 2013, at 4.30 pm and 7 pm. Tickets range from $10 to $15, and are available through http://www.eventfinder.co.nz/.
