Pomahaka River levels remain high
Pomahaka River levels remain high
The Pomahaka River in south-west Otago has peaked at Leithen Glen after heavy rain in recent days and is falling, but remains high, while downstream, river levels at Burkes Ford continue to rise.
Although the rainfall is expected to ease, the river will remain high for at least the next 1-2 days. Minor surface flooding of low-lying areas in the Pomahaka catchment is likely, so people in those areas should be mindful of this.
ORC flood managers are continuously monitoring rainfall levels. We will issue flood alerts and updates as necessary through Twitter, Facebook, and our website www.orc.govt.nz
