The Palmerston North based Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident south of Woodville at around 10:30 this morning after a car came off the road near the Manawatu River Bridge. The 2 occupants in the car, a husband and wife, were stabilised on scene by St John paramedics and the husband, a man in his 80's, was flown to Palmerston North. The wife was transported by road. The helicopter was called due to the time critical nature of the injuries.
