Wairoa Creative Communities
Wairoa’s creative community is richer following the latest round of grants from the national arts development agency Creative New Zealand.
Dedicated to developing, investing in and advocating for the arts, the agency funds the Creative Communities Scheme (CCS), which is administered here by the Wairoa District Council.
An assessment committee elected through a public nomination process meets to allocate CCS funding through twice yearly rounds, funded by the New Zealand Lottery Grants Board and the Ministry for Culture and Heritage.
The recent round of funding has seen six applicants in Wairoa receive grants towards their projects:
• Wairoa Scottish Country Dancing Club -
to host an afternoon tea dance - $272.00
• Alan Moses -
art supplies - $500.00
• Wairoa Little Theatre - for
materials - $750.00
• Wairoa A & P Society - for
artists/musicians/performances - $900.00
• Arts and
Beats Festival - for musicians - $745.00
• Lana Keil -
for dye - $333.00
• Tidal Arts Incorporated Society -
declined
The next round of funding will be advertised next year. The funding criteria and application forms are available at the Wairoa District Council office or online at www.wairoadc.govt.nz.
