Media Release: 16 January 2015 Drivers warned of major road closure in Hutt
Valley The AA is advising drivers in the
Hutt Valley to be aware of a major road closure this
weekend.
The Eastern Hutt Road is scheduled to be closed
in both directions from 8pm on Saturday 17 January until 6am
Monday 19 January. This is to allow repair work to the
Silverstream rail bridge.
The road is currently down to
one lane but once the work is completed it will be able to
re-open to two lanes as normal.
“The Eastern Hutt Road
is used by a lot of people, so its closure is likely to
cause some disruption this weekend,” says AA Wellington
District Vice Chairman Geordie Cassin.
“All drivers in
that area need to know that the road is going to be closed
so they can plan an alternative route and allow time to get
to their destination safely.”
Some Hutt Valley train and
bus services will also be affected by the work so train
users should checkwww.tranzmetro.co.nz and bus users www.metlink.org.nz to get details of any
changes.
