New YAG members sought
The WDC Youth Advisory Group (YAG) is looking for seven inspired and motivated people, from around the District, aged between 15 and 20 to join them. They will need to be team players who are interested in working with Council to provide a youth Perspective, to help make our District a great place for youth to live, earn and learn.
“This is a great opportunity for young people in Whangarei to make a difference,” says WDC Community Services Adviser, Carla Janssen.
“It’s a great experience. Members of the group bring along young people’s opinions and get to see how the Council works, and make a difference to their community,” adds founding group member Brad Olsen.
“It’s very rewarding, as you
giveback to your peers, and make some great friends and
contacts on the group,” he says.
“The group has been
operating since June 2012, and has already made a huge
impact on the way young people’s voices are heard by the
decision makers at Council.”
Application forms and a description of the membership role can be found atwww.wdc.govt.nz/CommunitySafetyandSupport/Youth.
Any questions about the role or what the group does should be directed to Community Services Adviser, Carla Janssen, email carlaj@wdc.govt.nz
