Update on SkyPath consent submissions
Update on SkyPath consent submissions
23rd January 2015 5pm
As of late today there were more than 4000 submissions received by Auckland Council on the Resource Consent for the SkyPath cycleway on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.
The final number will not be known until late next week and will take into account submissions from Generation Zero, the youth environment and transport organisation, when Council can process what they advise is more than 10,000 submissions they have received on their website.
Note: What happens now
The Consent process for the SkyPath follows that for any resource consent application.
Providing no further information is required after Friday’s (22nd January) close of submissions, then a planning report with a recommendation will be finalised. A hearing date will be set within 25 working days following the close of submission.
At the Council’s Hearings Committee meeting in February commissioners will be appointed. Submitters wishing to be heard at the hearing will have an opportunity to speak to their submissions at the hearing. The Commissioners will consider the applicant’s proposal, Council’s planning report and submissions.
A decision is required within 15 days of the close of the hearing and there is an appeal period of 15 days from notification of the decision. A consent generally lapses five years after the date it is granted.
