Have your say on Hawke’s Bay public transport

Hawke’s Bay residents with an interest in public transport are being urged to be part of a new initiative aimed at ensuring the bus service is meeting the needs of the public.

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council is setting up the Hawke’s Bay Bus Users’ Group or HB BUG to give people the opportunity to share their ideas and suggestions on public transport in the region.

Hawke’s Bay Regional Council Sustainable Transport Coordinator Megan Welsby says the aim of the new initiative is to get feedback from the public to help HBRC ensure that the goBay public transport network is meeting the needs of locals and visitors to the region.

“Anyone with an interest in public transport is welcome to apply to be part of the group. We’re keen to get a broad cross section of the community so we want to hear from young and old, employed, unemployed and students and able-bodied and disabled people,” says Megan.

She says HB BUG will meet three to four times a year and it is hoped it will become the voice of the Hawke’s Bay community in all things public transport related.

If you’re interested in applying to become part of HB BUG or would like more information, email megan@hbrc.govt.nz
