Auckland Transport Vote Delayed
Auckland Transport Vote Delayed
Democracy Action can
reveal that Auckland Council has delayed the vote to
determine whether Auckland Councillors will be excluded from
sitting on the boards of Council Controlled
Organisations.
The vote was to happen today, but Democracy Action has been told by a source inside Council that because of public criticism of the proposal, the vote has been delayed until April.
“We hope the delay signifies that the Council has come to its senses and retains the status quo,” says Democracy Action Chairman, Lee Short.
“Rather than give bureaucracy free reign over the CCOs, Councillors must ensure that oversight by elected representatives continues.”
