Meaningful name sought for new Taita Centre
Meaningful name sought for new Taita Centre
Later this
year the new Taita Sport & Community Centre will open its
doors in Taine Street and the team behind the project are
seeking a meaningful name for the building.
Lesley Slieker, who is the manager of the Centre says, “we’re looking for a name that has meaning for the Taita community and that reflects the mana of the building as a centre for learning, recreation, art and community.”
A blackboard will be set up at the Tumeke Taita Summer Festival to start collecting naming ideas. The Festival is on Saturday 21 March from 10am-3pm at the Taita shops (around the corner from the new Centre).
“People who have naming ideas but can’t make it to the Festival can leave their ideas at Taita Library or contribute at www.facebook.com/taitacentre”, says Lesley.
A shortlist
will be collated before voting on the final name begins.
Voting will be advertised to the community.
