Oil Free Otautahi protests against ANZ due to their sponsorship of the New Zealand Petroleum and Mineral summit for Fossil Fools Day
Oil Free Otautahi has hung banners in several locations around Christchurch this morning in protest of ANZ sponsoring the New Zealand Petroleum and Mineral summit. This protest runs in conjunction with Fossil Fools Day, an annual day where activists take a stand against the continued use of fossil fuels.
17 year old activist Bridget White is running the event. “It was incredibly disappointing to hear that ANZ was sponsoring the New Zealand Petroleum and Mineral summit this year. This directly contradicts their statement about how they care about climate change. We are doing this action today to raise public awareness about what ANZ has done, and bring the message to ANZ that we will not stand for investment in fossil fuels.
The first banner- hanging location will be at Victoria Tower.
