Horizons’ community grants close soon
Time is running out to submit an application for Horizons Regional Council’s community grants programme.
The programme, which funded 16 projects in the last round, aims to support community groups, schools, early childhood centres and iwi/hapu groups with projects that enhance the Region and encourage more people to engage with the natural environment.
Established in 2012, the community grant pool has $20,000 available annually. Funding is hotly contested with the council receiving requests totaling over $75,000 in 2014.
Previous projects that have benefited from Horizons’ community grant funding include wetland restoration, native planting, sand dune stabilisation and pest control in native reserves.
Further information and application forms are available from Horizon Regional Council offices or online www.horizons.govt.nz . Groups have until5pm Friday 8 May to get their applications in.
