Chopper called to motorbike accident
The Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to a farm near Te Aroha at approximately 5.30 pm last night.
A 52 year old local farmer was involved in a motor bike accident while checking stock on his farm. The accident reportedly occurred at 4.15 pm and the man was able to raise the alarm by cellphone.
Using Night Vision Googles the Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter located the man and landed in a paddock near the accident scene. The patient was treated initially at the scene by St John staff for neck and shoulder injuries, he was then transported to Waikato ED for further treatment.
