Youth Week 2015
Youth Week 2015
Young people will be coming together
to celebrate Youth Week 2015 with the first colour party
flash mob to hit Auckland.
Hundreds of young people are expected to participate in the event on Thursday 28th May 2015 involving a flash mob dance routine with festival colour powder fun. Colour powder fun is a global phenomenon which has engaged a youth demographic. A group of New Zealand’s top hip hop dancers decided to incorporate a flash mob dance routine to spark the imagination of young people in celebrating youth week.
The free event has been organized by the BreakThru Cluster who are a collaboration of youth agencies working with the most at risk young people in our communities. The group includes Crosspower NZ, Genesis Trust, Strive Community Trust, Youth Horizons Trust and is supported by the Ministry of Social Development.
Crosspower NZ’s Abide dance crew who placed in the finals at the recent National Hip Hop Championships have developed and will be leading the flash mob dance. ‘We have kept the flash mob dance simple and fun, and we want everyone to participate’ said Tony Pati Abide Dance Crew’s tutor.
A recent test run at Crosspower NZ’s Otara youth facility was a raving success. ‘ I just loved seeing the smiles of the young people, who would not normally be able to afford to experience an event such as this, we are looking forward to the big event on the 28th May at Hayman Park Manukau’ said Law Manase Crosspower Services Manager.
