Brave the waves at Mission Bay
Calling all adventurous folk – it’s time to brave the waves for the annual Mission Bay Winter Splash.
This year’s event, to be held on Sunday 21 June, has a nautical theme, so come up with a great outfit for your winter dip and be in to win fantastic prizes.
Up for grabs for those with the best costumes are an overnight cruise from Hauraki Blue Cruises, an Auckland Whale and Dolphin Safari, an America’s Cup sailing experience from Explore and much more.
There will also be a prize for the school with the most participants.
“We are delighted to be once again co-ordinating the Winter Splash. It’s a fantastic event and a great chance for a bit of bracing winter exercise,” says Orākei Local Board events portfolio lead Kate Cooke.
The free event will feature activities and a sausage sizzle.
“Having regularly taken the plunge myself, I can say that the Winter Splash is an invigorating way to celebrate the first month of winter,” says Orākei Local Board chair Desley Simpson.
The Mission Bay Winter Splash will be held on Sunday 21 June, from 12pm to 2pm at Selwyn Reserve, Tamaki Drive, Mission Bay.
Registration opens at 12pm and the swim will take place at 1.30pm.
