Horizons mobilising response team to Foxton oil spill
An incident response team has been
mobilised to begin a shoreline cleanup of an unknown
quantity of oil on Foxton Beach.
Horizons Regional Council on scene commander Ian Lowe says the oil has come from an unknown source, came in on the high tide and extends along the beach.
“Maritime New Zealand has been notified of the spill and they’re in support of our actions and will help in any way they can,” says Mr Lowe.
The incident response team are assessing the spill and developing a plan of action of action.
